Hi! I’m Otilia.
Between working full-time and being a mother of three active boys, my life is a beautiful, busy whirlwind. As a Certified Esthetician and Engineer, I look at skincare through two lenses: health and performance. While I’ve always been mindful of what we put on our skin, I found that most natural deodorants simply couldn't keep up with real life or caused painful rashes. I created NU-Deo to change that, using my technical background to build a cleaner, more effective formula that actually respects and supports your skin chemistry.
Initially, I just needed a solution for myself to stay fresh from the start of my workday through to the evening's family activities. However, the real proof was in the results: when my husband started using it, he was so amazed by how well it worked that he officially switched from his long-time aluminum-based antiperspirant to this formula.
As my older boys reached the age where they needed a reliable deodorant, this formula became our household staple. Whether it’s managing peak odours for my teen basketball player or keeping sweaty feet fresh in winter boots during a long day of outdoor play, it has been a success for the entire family.
Word traveled fast within our close circle. Once friends and family tried it, their feedback was always the same: they were finally finding relief in a product that didn't irritate their skin and actually held up through their busiest days.
After hearing from so many people looking for a high-performance, non-irritating alternative, I decided it was time to share it with our local Vaudreuil-Soulanges community. How is NU different from an antiperspirant?
It is important to understand that NU is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. Antiperspirants use aluminum salts to physically block your pores and stop you from sweating. We believe in allowing your body to perform its natural, healthy function of sweating. NU works by neutralizing the bacteria that cause odour while allowing your skin to breathe.
Why is NU better than other natural deodorants?
Many natural brands use baking soda (bicarb), which can cause painful rashes, or heavy waxes that trap particles against the skin and stain your clothes. NU is 100% bicarb-free and wax-free.
Instead, we use a base of nourishing Shea Butter and an optimal percentage of gentle Magnesium Hydroxide to respect your skin’s delicate pH balance. This base is further enhanced by our signature Essential Oil Blends. We don't just select oils for their scent; we choose them for their therapeutic skin benefits - from the calming, anti-inflammatory properties of the ORIGINAL blend, and the antimicrobial, moisture-balancing benefits of the PINK LABEL blend, to the cell-regenerating and tissue-toning power of the BLACK LABEL blend. Why a balm instead of a stick?
At NU-DEO, we chose a balm format for two very important reasons:
Seamless Protection: it blends with your skin rather than sitting on top. Conventional sticks often use heavy waxes that create a thick barrier on the surface, which can trap bacteria and clog your pores. Our balm is designed to melt at body temperature and truly blend into your skin. When you massage it in by hand, you’re ensuring the mineral protection is distributed exactly where it’s needed, neutralizing odour at the source while allowing your skin to breathe and function naturally.
Mindful Application & Wellness: Applying your deodorant by hand isn't just about freshness; it’s about connection. This daily ritual encourages you to be in constant contact with your body. Will I experience an "adjustment period"?
If you are switching from an aluminum-based product, your body may take a week or two to find its balance. Additionally, because NU doesn't plug your pores, you might occasionally experience a "midday surge", a moment where your body’s natural sweat production peaks. During these times, the botanical oils and minerals in the balm may need a few moments to "catch up" and neutralize new bacteria. Because our formula is gentle and bicarb-free, you can always apply a small touch-up if you feel you need an extra boost.
How long will one tin of NU last?
A single 60g tin lasts approximately 2 months when applying a pea-sized amount to each armpit once daily. Because our formula is highly concentrated and contains zero fillers, this small amount is all you need for effective, all-day protection.

Each essential oils blend offers a different sensory experience:
The ORIGINAL: A fresh, bright, and slightly spicy fusion of Litsea Cubeba, Bergamot, Lavender, and Clove. It is designed to be sophisticated and unisex, neutralizing odor effectively before fading so it won’t clash with your perfume or cologne.
The BLACK LABEL: A bolder, more intentional profile. This resinous blend of Dark Patchouli, Virginian Cedarwood, and Black Pepper leans into a luxurious, masculine "smoked leather" scent. While still unisex for those who love deep, earthy aromas, it is designed to mature on the skin, leaving a persistent, magnetic finish that stands well on its own or layers beautifully with wood-based fragrances.
The PINK LABEL: A sophisticated, modern floral profile. This vibrant blend of Palmarosa and exotic Ylang Ylang is brightened by a crisp touch of Grapefruit that perfectly cuts through the sweetness. It creates a beautifully balanced, calming yet energizing aroma that leaves a fresh, uplifting finish on the skin throughout the day.
Can I really use it anywhere on my body?
Yes! NU is a versatile, whole-body solution. While it’s a powerhouse for underarms, it is also a game-changer for keeping sweaty feet fresh or for use under the bust and inner thighs.
For the gentlemen, the BLACK LABEL is particularly effective for targeted use on armpits, chest and groin area. Its resinous, leather-and-smoke profile is designed to work with your body’s natural chemistry, providing high-performance odor protection and skin-soothing benefits where you need it most.

Is it safe for youth, pregnancy, and breastfeeding?
NU was formulated with simple, pure ingredients. It is 100% bicarb-free and aluminum-free, making it a gentle option for youth. Because our formula is free from harsh synthetics and hormone disruptors, it is often a preferred choice for those navigating pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Our signature essential oils blends are used at a very low, intentional concentration of approximately 1%. However, every pregnancy and every person is unique; we always recommend reviewing our ingredient list with your healthcare provider to ensure it aligns with your specific needs.
Will it stain my clothes?
Unlike traditional antiperspirants, NU is aluminum-free, so you can say goodbye to those stubborn yellow pit stains. Because we use natural plant butters, staining is unlikely if you apply it correctly. Simply use a pea-sized amount wherever needed; a little goes a long way, and wait a few minutes for the formula to set on your skin before getting dressed.
If you do see a slight mark on a tight or light-colored shirt, don't worry. These natural residues aren't permanent and can be easily removed by spot-treating the area with a drop of dish soap or white vinegar before your regular wash.
My deodorant softened in the heat. Is it still okay to use?
Yes, absolutely! NU is formulated to remain stable up to 34°C. Ideally, it should be kept at room temperature. However, if your tin gets too warm and softens during a summer heatwave, simply give it a quick stir and place it in the fridge for 20 minutes to restore its perfect creamy texture.
What is the packaging made of?
We use metal tins and paper labels to stay 100% plastic-free! Our tins are designed to be both reusable and infinitely recyclable. They are perfect for reuse as travel containers for jewelry or vitamins!
Because we use paper instead of plastic for our labels, they can show some wear and tear if they get wet. This won't affect the deodorant at all, but we recommend keeping the tin in a dry spot if you want to keep the label looking fresh!
